Surrey Integrated Arts Consortium - Equal Oppertunities & Our Aims

Andrea Cook's exhibition
We value the opportunity for people to work together, regardless of background, disability, race, ethnic origin, religion, nationality, marital status, gender or sexual orientation.art.

SIAC believes that the arts are a very good means of enabling all people to work together and share common experiences. Clear communication is key. It is important for us that all people are listened to and for people to speak out. In doing so we support, value and respect each other’s strengths and build confidence. We recognize that we are not all the same and value the differences between people. We will challenge inequality where it is found and will promote opportunities for people who have been excluded or overlooked in the past.We will encourage and support each other to take new steps and to develop artistically. Some of the ways we do this are

  • Being involved in the arts and supporting the performers
  • Being in the plays
  • Coming to see them
  • Going to workshops
  • Writing the words for ourselves
  • Painting the pictures
  • Dancing the dance, and watching the dancers.
Our Aims

  1. To speak up for all Surrey based artists with disabilities and the organisations that represent them to the people who plan services, write policies and give funding locally, nationally and internationally.
  2. To speak up for artists in Surrey.
  3. To share what members do well and equipment and spaces with each other where possible.
  4. Work together across Surrey to hold events and find money.
  5. Work together with other artists and groups both inside and outside Surrey.
